Dionne of Smart Choices and Gea of iCare PressOn Sunday May 23rd Gea of The First 8 Days of Being a Mom and Dionna Whitehead of SmartChoices teamed up at the Natural Baby Fair in San Diego. Smart Choices, the makers of Mother's First Day Kit and purveyors of high quality products dedicated to making the new mom's life more comfortable brought an array of product samples for visitors of the fair to see, touch and buy. Gea brought her books and presented her story at the main stage to a select audience. A raffle with as price a complete Mother's First Day's kit including the manual was part of the booth. Anyone who entered a card will get an e-mail with the winner of the kit.

The ICAN of San Diego invited author Gea to share her special story about delivering and receiving postpartum care on two different continents within 20 months and the manual she translated “The First 8 Days of Being a Mom”. It was an interesting evening with a wonderful group of woman that empower and inform each other about this live changing event – giving birth. Everyone filled in a postpartum care survey with questions related to this subject and one of the expectant moms won a copy of The First 8 Days of Being a Mom. She gained the highest score.

It was clear that although all the members were pretty well informed everyone learned something new about postpartum care. And that you can’t do it alone but need help. From a postpartum doula or someone close to you. And the manual can be of great help with that. We call it the ‘paper doula’.

The Doula association of Southern California organized a Family Fest on May 9th in Griffith Park, LA. Melissa and Gea showed The First 8 Days of Being a Mom to a crowd of doula’s, pregnant woman and families of all kinds. As you can see it was a lovely day with information, music, a panel discussion and a book signing for YourBestBirth, the newly released book by Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein and of course we signed our book;-) We also raffled off a book which was won by Patricia from Burbank. Yay!

Melissa and Gea wish the pregnant family the best of everything on the pending adventure as they purchage a copy of The First 8 Days.

The moms of the Moms Club of Laguna Niguel invited us to share our story and book on March 3rd 2009. Melissa and Gea did their very first performance as author and editor and welcomed a lot of questions. We found an enthousiastic crowd and even got a first hand recommendation of a friend who already used the manual and raved about it. The dad liked it too. Books where signed and taken home for themselves and friends as a babyshower gift. It was a lovely morning.
